Project Aims and Objectives

The aims of the project are:

picture of a child reading a book
  1. To help people learn more independent living skills and skills that will help them to get a job by developing a course that will be partly taught using computer games.
  2. To improve the way that learning for work preparation and independent living is taught by using a group of experts.
  3. To make learning for work and independent living more interesting and enjoyable by developing a course and learning materials that match the learning needs of each person.

Operational Objectives:

  1. To use the good results we’ve had in a project for prisoners and young people likely to get into trouble by changing the computer games we developed for them to be useful for different people in different countries.
  2. We will use some of the best developments from work done in other projects and in other countries and make some changes and new developments so they are useful for our own project to improve work skill, Basic Skills and independent life skills for people with learning disabilities.
  3. We will make sure that all of the organisations who work with people with learning disabilities to support them with independent living and work preparation are involved in the project and work together so we get good results and so as many people as possible will learn about our project and will use our materials.
  4. In the UK we will work with the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA) to help our course to become a proper qualification. We will deliver the course in small units so that people can see how well our learners with learning disabilities are doing.
